The one downside is the fact that it only has two speeds. More variable speed would be useful. The only other issue is that with Lithium batteries, there is no warning when they are dying. The NiCad batteries will slow down, but the Lithium batteries will just stop completely.

Used this drill (after the 30 minute charging) for 5 hours, with only one change of batteries. Building a shed and this drill worked it’s torque on those screws like no other drill I have ever owned. Fantastically happy with this purchase. I really don’t think you can find stock that this drill/driver won’t navigate. I have everything that Dewalt makes and I have to say this drill is weak. It is fine for someone that does not work with hard woods, ok for your little projects. But for wood working and trying to put some muscle into the draw; it is not the tool. the bigger 18 are better for what I do, for a small light weight tool it is great, but for working the way we do in building our own furniture it is lacking. – K Aultman
Our family uses a lot of cordless tools. This one is excellent. Everything Dewalt makes is very good. The 18v power is as good as it gets for home use. Also, you have an extra battery. Lastly, the 1/2″ chuck will handle all size bits. if you’re looking for a good cordless drill, you won’t go wrong with this one. – Jan Mitchel
