When choosing a 18v cordless drill there are a number of factors to consider, such as:-
Price
Yes everybody likes a bargain, and there are numerous cheap cordless drills on the market. When it comes to power tools however you do get what you pay for. Choosing a cheap 18v cordless drill might be fine for a one of project, but they are unlikely to last for any length of time and the battery packs normally don’t last for many charges. When we reviewed a couple of cordless drills and put them through their paces it wasn’t too long before the batteries seemed to lose power and won’t take a full charge.
We advise that you purchase an 18v cordless drill from one of the top manufacturers such as those we have listed on this site.
Weight
Weight is an important factor when selecting power tools. Too heavy and you hands, wrists and arms will soon start aching. Especially when doing a lot of high level or overhead drilling work.
Weight really comes down to personal choice and what you feel comfortable with. The weight of the drill certainly does help you when drilling so try and choose something that is either not too heavy for you or to light.
Some of the 18v cordless drill reviews above come complete with extra handles which enable you to place your own body weight behind the drill. This is useful if you are drilling into a very hard material such as dense concrete blocks or masonry.
Grip
This is another reason to choice a quality cordless drill. The cheaper drills on the market obviously use cheaper materials in the manufacturing of their projects, where drills from the top quality manufacturers come with quality grips. You will find that all of the drills above can be used for hours on end without you getting blisters.
Battery power
It makes sense that the more power you got the more torque your cordless drill will have. An 18v cordless drill has the perfect balance of power to weight. 18v cordless drills have a great amount of torque for drilling into masonry and steel, and most of them come with hammer settings to enable you to drill into the toughest of brickwork.
